Why does the NCAA and ESPN embrace, and actively promote, the underdog in basketball, yet find disgust for the underdog in football?

In basketball it doesn't matter who wins in the tournament because most of the money is made in advance and the major stakeholders and power conferences are happy. The tickets are already sold and casual interest is high because of office pools.
In football you need the schools themselves to sell out the stadium and make the bowl sites happy. Plus you need teams with name recognition to get tv ratings. A lot of major programs were passed over by NIU and money is headed to a non BCS conference. Plus these spots aren't decided by head to head competition. Small schools in football can earn a big payday without having beat anyone yet, so there will always be a negative perception.

The Big XII South championship is on the line.

Surprised to read that people are unenthusiastic about the BCS Championship Game. Those are two pretty storied programs right there.

Either Notre Dame or Alabama is going to win the National Championship. That fact alone makes this an awful, awful, awful game.

If only we could figure out a way to have a Yankees-Red Sox world series.

The Village Commons Bookstore is selling them. They are a client of mine, so if they are sold out or something, shoot me a pm and I'll see what I can do.
