So i'm trying to get caught up to speed on this...earlier Te'o was completely guilty...now is it believed that he is in fact just the victim of a hoax? That he only made up meeting her to perhaps hide the fact he was embarrassed about meeting someone online?

Having extensive experience in world of warcraft I can tell you that there exists a demographic of men that have the combination of anti-social skills and conservative ideals to be duped into a hoax like this for well over a year. These people are generally not star football players that can date an entire campus full of women though. Then again his being a devout Mormon who doesn't believe in sex before marriage would cause his definition of a girlfriend to be a bit more liberal. Anyone you're emotionally attached to would suffice.

I dunno Lipp. I'm not ready to rule out that he's a dumbass who fell for a chick that didn't exist. Making up stories to fit what you want to believe is something most humans are capable of. OTOH he might be a lousy con man.
