I never even mess with a sandwhich. Just give me a platter. Half of the time people try and serve a platter with the meat on top of bread and it is just stupid. As you said, soggy mess at the bottom.

And I guess where we are different is that a lot of the time, I enjoy the meat as it is and don't even put sauce on it at all. I only go to places where I can enjoy the meat without sauce. From time to time I'll decide to mix it up a bit and use a little sauce but just a little. I can see not everyone liking bbq and/or thinking it needs something but I cannot imagine ever feeling that way myself. Man I love BBQ.

And even though I haven't posted on here about it... I've got your back when it comes to Red Lobster!

I drive by it every day on my way to and from work. I have to stop every so often and bring some of it home, or I'd go nuts. They are popular enough they have a couple locations. A few years ago one of the writers in the Post-Dispatch mentioned it when he wrote a travel article about going to MWL baseball games.

Ok STL folks, I'm going to be cruising through Saturday and as luck would have it it will be lunch time. What would you guys and gals recommend kind of out on the west side of town that's easy to get in and out of? I'll be coming down 61 (or I could do 79), then to 270 and 44 west.

I was trying to remember the name of this place as I was reading his post. I liked their food, but it's probably been ten years ago.

Might be a smokehouse in Louisiana MO. Izola's. Never been but had intriquing look.


Could very well be wiped out by flood earlier this year.

So are you going 61 to I 64 to I 270 or will you be taking I-70?

If you take I70 through St Charles there is a really great bakery- but it's just a bakery- just off 70 and Zumbehl Rd in St Chuck.

Unfortunately it is gone due to the flood. Or it was a few weeks ago when i went through. It was good though and I hope it comes back. There is another place called "fatboys" almost right across the highway from Izola's that's pretty darn good too. It's in a portable Amish shed so the flood didn't get them.

don't plan do go on I70 but I could. I won't be pressed for time but I also don't want to take all day.

BTW I've eaten Pappy's and most of the other bigger names places in STL, all great, I was just wanting to try something new and I didn't know anything out west. I would like to avoid heading downtown or in SoCo though, that will get pretty far out of the way.
