"Idea people" is a real thing. Anyone gone through Gallup Strength Finders? Ideation is one of their themes.

Like with anything, just because you have that as a strength, doesn't mean that you use that strength well. Just because you love ideas, doesn't mean that every idea is a good idea. And just because you have an idea doesn't mean that you (or your employees/coworkers) can bring your idea to reality.

as an accountant I've been roped into being treasurer a few times for charity, school-related groups, sports club.

In this world of small volunteer boards etc - I've noticed you'll have a combo of these people:

The Martyr: Person who unwisely does too much, fosters a real or imagined dependency and apathy from the others, and harbors a powderkeg of bitterness to the rest of the group.

The Honorary figurehead: the person who thinks they are deemed a purely honorary position -and rarely reads group correspondence, or attends meetings. But when that something of importance rarely occurs, they grandstand and whip out the corporate speak BS.

The Treasurer responsible for the money, probably the only thing that matters in these gigs. Since this person is aware of needs and demands because of having the checkbook- this person, can easily morph into the Martyr.

The Protestor Single issue person. Joined because they were mad about something. This one is rather uncomfortable on the other side of the curtain and can either change tunes and work with the group, or continue to be useless and mad.

The idea person Probably the worst of the lot in this setting. sometimes this is same as honorary figurehead. All talk, no action. really [expletive] up the meeting with impractical tangents that they have no intention of seeing thru themselves.

Example of this was when my wife and I were helping with school auction. My wife -she kicks ass at shaking down local middle-class serving businesses for stuff, she is so good that I call her the Auction Mafia. it's a pisser then when the "idea person" in the group says "we should get a car dealer to donate a car to auction off!
----
The little deal I work with now, is a breath of fresh air -everybody is busy, but all are fun/good people with similar priorities for the group.

The word "ideation" makes me want to light people on fire.

From our corporate wiki:
Ideation: The crowdsourcing of ideas. Ideation enables us to present a large business problem to a substantial group of people in order to derive the most robust solution.

People get paid to make this stuff up.

I love that the definition doubles down on the b.s. by using the word "robust".
