It's very likely that people steal stuff to pay for drugs. It's also somewhat plausible that news stations will run stories about stolen packages. It's very unlikely, as you asserted earlier, that they would run another follow up story when the person was caught where they not only admit to the crime but also provide a specific reason why (drugs), all before they have a trial. That part came straight from the old wart spin zone.

You are correct - they Cops speculated it was to pay for drugs, the thief's never admitted that, and according to your spin zone - cops lie.

Christmas time is probably when this occurs a lot more often than normal, hence all the stories....but as others have said, I'm not sure where the link to stealing a package and buying drugs is at in these stories.
