You just terrified me. Carp does have an $18.5 mil vesting option for 2022! It kicks in at 1100 plate appearances between 2020 and 2021 combined. I'm not sure how that works, given 2020 being the shortened season. So far he's at 255 PA's, so there's really no chance he makes it.

According to this article, Carpenter needs 550 PAs in 2021 for the option to vest, taking the shortened 2020 into account. He's had 86 so far, so while it would appear unlikely, you never know.
