Playing catcher will make Rodriguez’s bat considerably worse. That’s the rub. And, yes, the logjam is at DH.
Rodriguez won’t be a regular until the second half of 2027 at the earliest. Maybe 2028. Herrera might play himself out of a job by then. He’s slugging like Aaron Miles this season and doesn’t have a position.

With the universal DH I don’t think catching will have any impact on his bat.

I prefer Rodriguez not catching.
