Anyone tried sling tv? Looks like a subscription service for $20/mo with access to a handful of popular of cable channels, but most notably ESPN.

I think I'm well covered enough with the subscriptions I already have (Netflix, Hulu Plus), but this would be tempting during times of the year with lots of live sports I want to watch. MLB Playoffs (TBS), College football bowls (ESPN), World Cup (ESPN).

I just tried it and already quit. 1. It didn't work at for a. Had to reboot a couple times. 2. No casting with google chromecast, only fire stick. 3. It kicked me out of both my phone and fire stick sessions bc only one session is allowed. [expletive]. I'll take my free week and continue to use other accounts. Honestly, who the [expletive] they think they are? Only one device can watch. Please. The apps you're selling aren't that strict.

Let me pile onto why this thing sucks. I logged out of sling and went backbto watchespn.com still have sling up on the tv. And my computer is slow. Usually a couple seconds behind my phone if going through espn. Anyway, sling throughffire stick on the tv is 13 seconds if not 14 seconds the computer.

I added Sling to my roku so I could watch the Iowa State games on ESPN the past 2 days. I was also underwhelmed. I have ethernet into my Roku and HDMI from Roku to the TV, so my router and internet service should be my only limiting factors. About 4-5 times each game it would get hung up and I'd have to go back out to the main screen and then reboot the channel. It was annoying for sure. I don't think I'll be sticking with the subscription past my 7 free days, but i will probably give it a try again when I want access to ESPN and/or TBS for a specific time period (assuming MLB playoffs will still be on TBS and not switched to Fox Sports 1). Will still be better than paying for cable or having to go to the bar when I'd rather have the option of watching a game with my kids.

I don't think I can handle many more games like Iowa State has had here recently. That win over Texas was insane. How much longer can they keep coming back from these huge deficits and barely scraping out a win in the end?

Does Sling archive shows? For example, if I subscribe today can I get all the "better call saul" episodes or do I need to watch it live?

I'm not the most tech savvy person, so someone could correct me if I'm wrong, but no. The only options I have found are for viewing live TV.

From what little I know about Sling, I don't think they have any on-demand or archived stuff. PlayStation is coming out with a TV service later this year that will have something to that effect.
