I will be about as disinterested in this Super Bowl as I was when the Ravens were in it playing whoever that was.

I'm just going to check the score in the fourth quarter. If it looks like I'll get to see Belichick and Brady crying in self-pity, I'll watch the end of the game.

I guess my reply was more directed at Cronos' supposition that Eli has been the 'opposite' of Peyton, implying Peyton has just been 'ok' in the playoffs. Eli has been very good this year. I think he made some brilliant throws and check downs and showed a lot of poise.

I was suggesting Peyton has been pretty damn good in the playoffs as well (despite the big INT everyone remembers from the NO game) just doesn't have the W/L respect because of a porous defense.

I love Peyton (and as a Giants fan I have enjoyed Eli since 2007) and think that his "struggles" are overblown. But its tough to say its Peyton's D that has cost him. In his playoff losses his team has given up the following points... 19, 23 (OT), 41, 24, 10, 21, 28, 23, 31, 17. Those aren't terrible numbers -outside of the 41. 4 scoring drives in any of those games and the Colts would have won most of them. I would say that if they had the defense that they had in 2006 he would have won more titles because they played unreal and saved Peyton in their first 2 rounds. But I would say his D was average overall throughout his career, not porous.

As a closet Giants fan, and as someone who had $50 on them, I am happy with the results this weekend.

As a Steelers fan I hate Suggs, but I love him today.

Hmm, I'd consider 28 and 31 pretty bad. I'm also not seeing the game they lost when the d gave up 10 points? I see a 20 you don't have listed tho. The other thing is how many times did he over come defensive woes in wins, he's won games where the defense has given up 31, 34 and 24 points twice.

Then compare those wins/losses with Eli,
Losses - 23, 23, 23 in all losses.
Wins - Not once has the D given up more than 20 points and Eli won the game.

You're right, porous is probably a little misleading. But I think if you look at the final scores, it doesn't tell the whole story. If you look at the 05 loss to the Pats (20-3) the D gave up 200 yards rushing and fumbled twice on the road. The 04 loss on the road in NE Peyton had 4 int's tho. The last game against the Jets, he was 18/26 for 225 with a TD and no picks. The defense gave up 350 yards of offense. Players have won Super Bowl MVP's on worse numbers than what Manning had that game.

I congratulate Eli and am usually impressed with the poise he shows on the field, I just get a little annoyed when wins or losses are too quickly placed on the shoulders of a player completely ignoring the other 64 guys on a team. Like Condiff in Baltimore, Brady in New England or Tebow in Denver. I don't think the Colts make the playoffs 9 straight or 10 of the 12 years with Brady as the QB and I bet Peyton has 4 rings in New England.
