The only problem with streaming over getting cable is you to get anywhere close to as many shows with streaming alone you have to order 3-4 different services which negates the point of trying to save money by not getting cable. I mean if you're happy with just Netfli then it makes sense but if you need to order Netflix, MLB, NFL, Hulu and so on then it doesn't make financial sense.

Which is why I used Kodi (formerly XBMC). A few tweaks and unofficial mods and the world's entertainment is yours.

Not just the no recording, but not streaming well. I've got about 30 mbps at home and during the final 4, especially the beginning of the duke/mi state game and the end of the wi/ky game, i'd have to restart the program every 4 minutes which is basically unacceptable if you want to watch live sports. Every 2 minutes or so of the game having to reboot. Not an acceptable replacement of cable.

The Cards/Cubs game was better, but still lagging. If someone posted something in the GDT, I'd see it a second or two later. Probably a lag of 15 seconds or so.

If I wasn't such a big Cardinals/MLB and UFC fan I think I could get by with just Netflix but as it is Cable is the easiest provider to watch Cardinals games since you can't just simply get the MLB package since thats only good for out of market games.

If you pay $5/mo for unblock-us it can get around the blackout. But yes, cable is the easiest.

Depends where you live - I've not been in an FSMW viewing area in almost a decade. If I have cable, I can catch a few games a year when the Cardinals are playing the Braves (before I could only catch a few when they were playing the Mets or an interleague game when they were playing the Yankees). In Iowa I couldn't catch anything.

For me it's MLB.tv and local channels only. I had cable in NY, but it just wasn't worth it for the $125/month bill for TV and internet when I hardly watched TV. I just play the naughty boy card and torrent any shows that I would have previously recorded on my DVR.

I was a cable cutter for many years but there is so much good TV right now that I found it worth it to go back to Comcast instead of paying for iTunes or waiting for Netflix.

My roommate and I just figured it that we can log into NBCSN to watch playoff hockey using his work Dish password. This is the final piece of the puzzle.
