Well, you can be the one Cardinal fan depressed about tonight's game if you like.

Friday night was the first time in baseball history that two pitchers threw one-hit, no-walk complete games on the same night — or at least since 1916, the earliest season available in Baseball-Reference.com’s Play Index database.

The best-pitched game I could remember watching by a Cardinal was Carpenter vs. the Blue Jays in 2005: 9IP, 1H, 1BB, 10K. Game Score of 94. Well done, Shelby.

Jaime Garcia had an 89 pitch complete game facing one over the minimum his rookie year.

Just got home from seeing Primus live in concert, in 3D to boot. It was epicsauce. Looks like Shelbs frizzle fried them Rockies. Top drawer, sonny Jim.

As Cardinals kept blowing scoring opportunities, I was thinking the same thing as announcer - oh well, this lead can't be touched. Dominant.

Miller fanned four times in four at-bats Friday. Though he has five sacrifice bunts, Miller has struck out 12 times in his 14 official at-bats, including slamming his bat in the dugout after his fourth strikeout, which was not exactly endearing to the manager.

“That wasn’t a great move when we just need him to get three more outs,” said Matheny.

“My hitting is not very good right now,” said Miller.

But nearly everything else about the Cardinals is.

“I’ll bet this team hates losing more than they like winning,” Miller said.

Wow, what an incredible game to be at. During the 5th inning I realized no one had reached since the first batter and the counting of consecutive batters retired continued the rest of the game.
