MLB's self-imposed deadline for the incumbents, iN Demand and DISH Network, has been lifted, according to Eric Fisher of the Sports Business Journal via the Sports Business Daily's "Morning Buzz".

MLB President & COO Bob DuPuy said late yesterday, "We will continue discussions until we reach a deal or it becomes apparent we cannot."

In the interim, DirecTV becomes the exclusive provider of Extra Innings.

More details should be forth coming via the Sports Business Daily when the expanded issue runs later today.

I love the fact that they are still talking but in the meantime we are missing games... I wonder how long into the season they would go? I guess I will hold out a little longer before getting Directv. Anbody else still waiting??
Not for long I'm not. I'm starting to see some of the benefits of mlb.tv (archive feature, gameday audio). That and the $50 voucher I got in the mail yesterday, and I'm ready to pull the trigger. It's a gametime decision, if there isn't a hard yes by 7pm tonight I'm going the mlb.tv route and not looking back. I already cancelled once, no more. If I sign up tonight and they resolve tomorrow, I'm not switching.

I'm trying. But I call yesterday and they say no, I get a letter explaining why it's not happening yesterday with a $50 rebate voucher. At this point, why would they even want to do it? How many customers have they lost who have signed up for other offers? I can't believe many customers given that even knew there was a chance over the weekend.

I really dont want Directv so I might as well hold out. I would rather have Comcast so if I have to wait another week so they can get a deal done than I'm in. Its worth it for me to stay patient.

Face-to-face meetings are still occurring with the parties as of late Tuesday regarding a deal to keep MLB Extra Innings on cable and DISH Networks.

“We were hoping and expecting that there could be a deal done the last couple of days. Both sides are involved, and they’re continuing to talk,” In Demand spokeswoman Ellen Cooper said.

As mentioned on The Biz of Baseball, the time in which it would take to get Extra Innings back up and running on cable, and presumably DISH would be nominal. As further reported:

If an agreement is reached, In Demand said it is prepared to supply the games to cable operators immediately. “We would be ready, technically within an hour,” Cooper said.
That's certainly good to hear.

When does MLB.TV kick in? How much of the pregame do they show?

The reason I ask is because Gameday Audio is going already.

I think they do what Extra Innings did. The first 10-15 minutes before a game.

If you click it any earlier, you get the MLB.tv channel that they have.
