Looks like the Wikipedia peoples are as pathetically fast as ever on this one:

On March 22, 2007 La Russa was arrested in Jupiter, Florida for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He was found asleep at the wheel of his running SUV while at a green light. He did not initially respond to the police knocking on the window, even though he still had his foot on the brake. He was booked at the Palm Beach County Jail and blew a .093 blood alcohol content, which is above the legal limit of .08

That's twice today that community standards have kept me from making a joke.

I just logged on. I don't know which thread to open first, but I'm pretty excited about it.

Do you mean St. Louis' own Cordell and Cordell? They have a branch here too and run ads all day on the same station. I love Joe Cordell's voice. he sounds like a stoner who went to law school.

But yeah, I like the spin they give. "Helping men play a role in their children's lives, while protecting their financial means to do so." Wink, wink.

Although, it does seem like a good idea for someone to specialize in representing men in those cases, because it's one area of life where the deck is stacked in favor of women.

Tired people fall asleep.

People talking on cell phones run a higher risk of not paying attention to traffic on the road, thus delaying response times and increasing risk of accidents.

Because LaRussa fell asleep at the wheel does not mean he was raging drunk. His measured BAC certainly does not indicate that level of intoxication.

He's a DUI lawyer, so the tackiness kind of goes with the territory.

I've seen DUI attorneys advertising in bar bathrooms. That seems somewhat beyond tacky to me.

Edit: I don't have a problem with DUI attorneys, but advertising in a bar bathroom seems to me like saying, "Thinking about committing a crime tonight? I can help."

I've had early mornings or late nights from work or to school where if I don't sit up and shake my head I start to nod off in the car...completely sober.

I think it's odd he 'had trouble balancing' and effed up the alphabet so hard, and blew a .093. I probably drove home from a pizza place last night at .093 but I could do the abc's backwards if I needed too. I'm stll gonna chalk this up to fatigue with alcohol as a factor. Not as alcohole with fatigue being a factor.

I won't sit here and say he was right in his actions, drinking and driving is never a good idea. But I'd say he felt like he could manage the short drive, and his fatigue set it on the dark, probably nearly empty streets. I would say that a similar problem may have arisen even if he hadn't been drinking.

My only real question is this: Is this a 25 page thread if Florida's legal limit was .10 like it is in many states?
