My buddy texted me this news as I sat watching No Country For Old Men last night. Right during the scene where he uses the air-punch thing on that guy's forehead.

That's about how I felt about this trade. Even before knowing what we were getting back in return.

I had a dream a few nights ago that I woke up and turned on ESPN, and saw on the bottom line that we traded Chris Duncan for Andy LaRoche. I thought it was really strange, yet somehow believed it enough that when I really did wake up and turn on ESPN, I kept looking for it on the bottom line. I thought it could have been possible that I awoke in a half-asleep stupor and turned on the TV and saw it. Turns out I was wrong.

do you think they will continue the "give pujols more opportunities" with such a weak lineup...last years lineup is gonna look good...

I don't know. Last year's typical lineup--considering the production we got out of Edmonds and Rolen--didn't look so hot either.

Eckstein to Izturis is a downgrade. Edmonds to the platoon or Rasmus is probably treading water, and possibly even an upgrade. Juan to Ankiel looks like it's going to be an upgrade. Kennedy/Miles to '08 Kennedy we can only hope will stay the same or upgrade. Rolen is still here as of now, but if he is traded, it's not like he was a great hitter last year (his glove will certainly be missed).

I don't know. Even though we're certainly losing names and memories here, I'm not sure how much production (vs. '07 at least) we're really losing. Last year's 4-5 combo--the remnaints of the MV3--killed us more than anything. If Duncan and Ankiel are "for real", we're at least hopefully getting a step up there.

i was thinking from a "on paper" standpoint...and what could/should/would be "expected" of the mv3 and the 2007 lineup...when healthy and all, compared to the 2008 "on paper"...



but heh, i think youve convinced me otherwise...
