Doesn't matter. Missouri has two losses to one of the best teams in the country, coupled with wins over several very good teams. Kansas has NO noteworthy wins and a loss against the only truly good team they played. The Jayhawks are a good team, but they are not more deserving than Missouri.
they had 5 common opponents and were each 5-0 against them.....besides the argument that Missouri beat Kansas and deserves to go (which I agree with, all things being considered) you are basically saying the win against Illinois gets Mizzou in...well....newsflash...I understand Illinois is going to the Rose Bowl....but they lost to Iowa for criss sakes (who, take my word for it, is terrible) while getting outplayed TWICE by Oklahoma...
No, it's not the win against Illinois that gets Missouri in. That certainly strengthens their case, given that Illinois will play in the Rose Bowl, but Missouri defeated Kansas to win the North, played in the conference championship game, and had a much stronger schedule than KU. They are more deserving.
Missouri out-played Kansas for most of the game in Arrowhead, but watching that last quarter....Mangino figured something out, because if I remember correctly Kansas scored in a NY minute on 4 of their last 5 possessions did they not? I don't really think there is that much of a difference between the two teams, and especially not the difference everyone seems to be making it out to be..
Kansas was in hurry-up mode for the entire second half and Missouri was playing with a big lead, which means their defensive strategy was different than it might have been had the game been closer. Mizzou probably should've protected the lead better, but Kansas was throwing long bombs and going for broke to scratch their way back into it.
