That was my immediate thought. I saw the ER doc checking the kid out and the body language of the doc kind of told the story. So, at that point we resumed the game. But, the car drove off as that was going on.

I'm not sure how the law works. It was in a parking lot/private land. Regardless, as uncomfortable as it is, still need to get out and exchange information and you know maybe check on the kid.

There's the thing where no one wants to admit blame/apologize in these situations. But, people can maintain a sense of not doing wrong (maybe, pretty sure the pedestrian is always in the right) while also being a decent human being.

Of course, when shook up like that, people make weird decisions and it's easy to understand just wanting to be as far away as possible.

I remember when I was a kid on a bike I more/less ran into a car and was so embarassed I just wanted out of the situation. I came a around a corner and a car was rolling up to a stop sign, I freaked out, laid the bike down, and slid into the tire. The guy got out and asked if I was alright. I said yeah, asked if he was alright, and got the hell out of there.

Still...gotta get out. You just hit a kid with your car. Pretty sure that's a hit and run....

Thoughts on the Aptera electric car? Claims to have 1000 mile range and solar panels for charging without having to plug it in.

I kind of like it.

Interesting, can you actually plug it in to charge? I assume so, but the info on the site doesn't seem to tell you, and the max 40 miles/day of range from solar the reservation page mentions would force some uncomfortable behavior changes.

That looks impractical as hell. The solar idea is nice though.

Related enough, I hope. I visited Phoenix. Why isn’t it covered in solar panels? Really expected to see a lot more.

The response I got there was that the technology isn’t really there yet. But I see more in Portland.

Looks like there’s a standard charging port too. I get 220-300 per full charge on my Bolt depending on the weather so the max of 1000 miles is pretty great. If you charged it fully you could probably get around town for a week or two without charging it. Through if you can charge at home that’s not really an issue. Much better for trips though.

I see it’s classified as an autocycle, so that makes sense. Probably like a two person sports car inside but with more storage.

I have solar here in St. Louis and they’ve performed great (better than expected actually). I’ve had them since August and if all works out I should only be paying a few hundred bucks in energy costs per year (plus the system cost of course) on an all electric home.
