It's the same type of people the other side surrounds themselves with. They are doing what they think is in their best interests to win the election, period. Obama is playing a card, and McCain and his people are doing the same thing.
One might disgust you (it did me, too), but it's pretty circumstantial who is playing bad cop in a given election.
Obama's colleagues haven't done said or done anything nearly as inflammatory as what we saw this week. You're surely not going to deny that this week has been a childish display of mockery on the part of the Republicans, are you?
That attacks on Palin weren't inflammatory? The public vetting of her?
You can come right back and say, "but those things are true!" Well, the vast majority of what most of the speakers at the republican convention said were true as well. It's just that you didn't like it anymore than I liked the public vetting of Palin. Also, keep in mind, and I've said this a dozen times, what you consider an attack on your candidate won't seem like an attack to another person. All of that comes from which side of the aisle you sit on and your opinions on various topics, from the war to drilling to taxes.
I've already complimented both major candidates for keeping it largely above board, and frankly, I don't pay a whole lot of attention to the mud slinging on either side. You didn't see me on here touting Guiliani and rubbing his speech in people's noses. You also don't see me on here pointing out lies from the left or smear tactics from whoever or whatever someone might have said.
I'm not talking about "sides" or "the media". I'm talking about Barack Obama and his immediate colleagues, the ones that he thought enough of to invite to speak at the most important political event of his life to date (the Democratic convention). You surely can't hold Obama responsible for everything that every Republican and every member of the media has ever said, can you? Let's talk about the type of people that Obama and McCain have surrounded themselves with, and leave it at that. To my knowledge Obama has done more defend Palin than he has to mock her.
Did you honestly watch the Republican convention this week, and do you honestly still believe that McCain's camp is "keeping it above board"?
Obama does not need to say anything "snarky" he has a lot of bloggers and folks in the media who are his supporters who are saying these things so he can stay above the fight.
So do the Republicans...stop using this angle because most of the time you can look at your own party in the mirror and see the same things.
Did I ever say I was a Republican?
So, it is ok for the Dems but not the Republicans?
I am heading out, so I am sure when I come back there will be another 20 pages of the same stuff going back and forth.

Again, I'm not talking about blogs, and I'm not talking about the media. I'm talking about the people that he chose to represent him at the most important political event of his life.

I completely understand what you're saying........ I just think that some of you are painting with a broader brush than I am. Obama can't be held responsible for everything that every Republican says or does, just as McCain can be held reponsible for everything that every Democrat does. But the type people that they choose to represent them at critical moments speaks volumes, in my opinion.
Do you mean the actual people that stood on stage? I have to believe every second of that was choreographed by a team of highly educated calculating people with 829 polls in mind. Seriously, these are the same people. If they thought Obama would be at an advantage to go after McCain they would be. Is it really shocking that these are the roles each side decided to play? No surprise here.

Highly educated calculating people choreographed Giuliani's little charade, thinking it would help McCain in the polls?

I wasn't calling you a Republican...but instead of saying "both sides", you seem to be focused on Obama.
It isn't ok for the Democrats or the Republicans...my point was to say that both sides have their own media and supporters.
I just don't think you can play that angle anymore...both sides do it.
I don't think he was up there ad-libbing with everything that's at stake. Someone signed off on it. Probably several of the smarter people in this country.
