Yeah, that was mentioned a few months back. I think back when I was recommending Clown Shoes' Luchador en Fuego to JL as a terrific Mexican chocolate/chili stout?

If I'm buying beer in a store and see a label that is objectifying or degrading to women, I won't buy it.

In this case, it was a flight and all I had to go on was the one/two sentence description on the menu. No idea what the tap looked like as it was on the other side of the bar. Their description had certainly piqued my curiosity:

"Imperial Stout and Barleywine Ale (equal parts Undead Party Crasher, Billionaire, and Blaecorn Unidragon), aged in rum barrels -- 12% ABV"

Side Project Brewery's tasting room is only 12-7 on sat and sun.

I've been going bananas on double and even triple IPAs lately, and I'm enjoying the hell out of them. I did the Founders Devil Dancer (triple IPA) and loved it. There are a few local DC/Maryland breweries that have double IPAs that I've tried and enjoyed (DC Brau On the Wings of Armageddon, and... I can't remember the other one, but it was great). This is especially notable because I've found DC Brau really mediocre/crappy otherwise.

Last year, I got to try Pliny the Elder and the Dogfish 120 Minute, and it turned me around on those big crazy imperial IPAs. They were the gateway drugs. It's hard to find anything better than those two, of course, but they showed me it's a style I can get behind.

My 2017 New Beer's Resolution is to get into the California breweries. I'm starting with Stone and Ballast Point. I also got ahold of a FiftyFifty Eclipse Stout- the variant aged in Woodford barrels. I'm saving that one for a special occasion.

Sounds like we can buy Dogfish Head in MO now. Hoo hah!

Tonight is "Goose Island Bourbon County Day" at one of our local watering holes.

They'll have on tap:

2016 Bourbon County Stout
2014 Bourbon County Vanilla Rye
2009 Bourbon County Stout
Four Star Pilsner

Anyone ever tried these? Looking forward to getting some flights of these.

What is a flight? Is it like a pitcher?

Unfortunately I didn't get to try them. They tapped the kegs at 4pm, but by the time we got there at 6 all of the Bourbon County kegs had been kicked. We were rather annoyed.

AW, flights are samples - usually 3-4oz pours unless it's a super fancy expensive beer, in which case they may be 2oz pours. After we left the first place that was running the Goose Island promotion, we walked down the block to another bar to grab some poutine to eat before we headed home. They were offering beer flights with 5 oz pours - and fancy expensive high gravity beer was included in it. It was crazy.

Ahh, cool.

They're like baby beers!
