She went home to spend time with her son that is shipping out to Iraq. Which would be more important, reporters or her son?GatewaySnayke wrote:This is from Marc Ambinder and was posted at Kos.
A senior McCain campaign official advises that, despite the gaggle of requests and pressure from the media, Gov. Sarah Palin won't submit to a formal interview anytime soon. She may take some questions from local news entities in Alaska, but until she's ready -- and until she's comfortable -- which might not be for a long while -- the media will have to wait. The campaign believes it can effectively deal with the media's complaints, and their on-the-record response to all this will be: "Sarah Palin needs to spend time with the voters."

Oh, OK. So, a vice presidential candidate is not being sent out to campaign -- but to spend time with her son?Hudler wrote:Completely serious.
She's had a week to submit a formal interview. But I guess she was out shooting at moose with her son.

It's not that weird. She's been with the campaign for 5 days or so. VP's don't automatically agree with the candidate, so they'll be taking time to square her opinions with McCain's and phrase them in a way that doesn't come off false. They'll want to do that before she does any lengthy interviews.GatewaySnayke wrote:Oh, OK. I would think most people would want to spend time with a family member that is leaving for a combat zone instead of answering the same stupid questions over and over from reporters. It's kinda sad if very many people think otherwise.

If they have to prepare her to get their opinions in line, then that pretty much proves that she wasn't vetted. After Biden was named VP candidate, he hit the trail. He's been on the trail since the convention. And 15 days after being named VP candidate, he's going to be on "Meet the Press."ghostrunner wrote:It's not that weird. Does anyone think Sarah Palin's going to be on MTP next Sunday?

I have a question for you: when John McCain says "jump" do you say how high?Hudler wrote:I would think most people would want to spend time with a family member that is leaving for a combat zone instead of answering the same stupid questions over and over from reporters. And if that were really the reason, wouldn't they say that instead of "she needs time with the voters"?

I could ask you the same about Obama. They did say that as her reason for being in Alaska,I heard it on the CBS Evening News.GatewaySnayke wrote:I have a question for you: when John McCain says "jump" do you say how high?Hudler wrote:I would think most people would want to spend time with a family member that is leaving for a combat zone instead of answering the same stupid questions over and over from reporters. P.S. I've never voted a straight Republican ticket in my life and your jump comment is a little silly.
