ICE taking firm hold of the reins on the anti-Jay bandwagon.
I'm not anti Jay. I think he's a fine 4th outfielder. But if he's a starting corner OF... yikes.

All of this is especially strange from the standpoint that the Cardinals signed Randy Freakin Winn and demoted Jay not long ago.

Hmm, the Mariners approached the Braves about trading Figgins...

If the Mariner's paid most of Figgin's contract would you take him? Crasnick keeps mentioning the M's want to trade him and are willing to chip in a lot of money. I would prefer him over Skip...that is for sure. Seems like a big gamble though.

I don't know, Neyer doesn't seem to be taking into consideration that it's two months of Westbrook for 8 months of Ludwick. . .
Agreed about that. I've decided that the Cards had to have already decided tehy were going to non-tender Ludwick instead of letting him go to his final arb -- and be worth close to $8 -$10 million. If that's the case, they might have been wise to get something for him while they could, AND that would be trading 3 months of Ludwick for 3 months of Westbrook + cash + a minor league, and that's a pretty fair deal.

Getting another starting pitcher was a priority.

Losing Ludwick to get Westbrook does make you wonder where the Cardinals are going to get production from. Of course, he's been in and out of the lineup for the past two seasons. I don't know if that factored into the balance of things when they finally pulled the trigger on the deal.

Going forward, with Freese coming back, does that making Lopez the primary SS with Ryan, Schu, Greene, Miles filling in at 2B and elsewhere in the later innings?

Guess we posted at the same time and thought the same thing.

Yanks are now after Kerry Wood. Are they turning over their whole roster??

Jay was also behind Stavinoha on the depth chart about a month ago.

Maybe Schumaker's headed back to the OF.

I still have to think that was just Tony not knowing what he had with Jay, who has surely proved his value as a defender/hitter/ph'er, etc. I would be surprised if we see Stavy back with the Cards.

Oh and Craig needs to be recalled ASAP. A Jay/Craig platoon is our RF of the future.
