He completely flubbed the alphabet. The cop asked him to go from E to R and he didn't get past H.

I don't mean to pile on Grant Ressel and the kick was not an easy one by any stretch, but that missed FG against Arizona St. is pretty annoying right now.

All the same, given the injuries, the youth, and the Pinkel DWI, they should still beat KU and head to a winnable bowl game. 8-5 in a reloading year works for me, and they'll return a big dose of talent next year. Sure would be nice to know if Josey is going to be part of that. Whatever the SEC will be next year, I can't imagine it being more difficult than the Big XII schedule this season. They'd have to wind up with Arkansas, LSU, AND Alabama on the schedule for that to happen.

The SEC is going to keep an 8 game conference schedule. So, that would mean 6 in the SEC East, plus a cross division rival (I would assume it's going to be aTm), and one at random against the west. There's a fair chance we get none of them.

All the rapes and the murders have them a little preoccupied I'd say.

Ah, for some dumb reason, I was thinking it was still a 6 team division (5 divisional games, 3 from the other division).

Both parties were very respectful. Pinkel confesses to having a "jumbo wine", that he's on some medications. The cop says that mixing pain meds with alcohol can be a bad idea. Because of the Pinkel's balky knees (I think it was knees), the cop didn't ask him to do any physical tests. The cop asked him to do one of the other tests- alphabet, I think, from e to r. But first the cop asked him if he knew the alphabet. Pinkel's response was "Give me a break, buddy", which I thought was funny. The cop said they're required to ask. Then after telling him the letters of the alphabet that he had to recite, Pinkel's reply was something like "I can't even do that sober". He gaffed a bit, the cop cuffed him.

Maybe it's because I've grown cynical from videos like this and I was expecting to see something embarrassing, but I thought it was extremely uneventful. The cop was never a turd about it, Pinkel never caused any problems. He got pulled over, failed the sobriety test, and that was the end of it.

I keep seeing lots of Mizzou fans making excuses for him. CoMo police are too strict, the cop was padding his numbers, the cop wanted to take down a big shot, etc... And I find that funny because you know who ISN'T making any excuses? Gary Pinkel. And I doubt he'd want anyone making any excuses for his [expletive] up. By all accounts, he seems to understand the mistake he's made and he's atoning for it to the best of his ability.

I agree, JL. If anything, I respect Pinkel a little bit more after this. All of us have made mistakes. He 100% owned up to it, apologized, and as you said, didn't make any excuses.

I also thought it was funny that he said he had a Master's Degree, but couldn't count backwards from 73 to 62, even when he was sober.

That follow the finger test was ludicrously long. I'm not sure what the hell he needed to figure out 8 minutes in.
