I wish I could be more happy, but I have a really bad feeling that he is going to cut into a lot of Rasmus' playing time.Cronos69 wrote:If this really is done, I should be more excited about this then I am. I hope we can sign him somehow.
One thing it should mean is Ankiel to the bench, which I'm very happy about.

Now the Cardinals just need to find a way to stop sending Todd Wellemeyer out there.

There is no good reason not to think that Holliday is worth around 5-6 wins. He's almost certainly going to be worth his next contract, because he'd have to get an A-Rod contract or decline quickly not to be.JL21 wrote:He also plays LF (a position that demands better production anyway, and the average productivity there is much better than other spots on the diamond); has ballpark concerns due to Coors (I think they're overstated but still a factor); and because of those intangibles, has a reputation that doesn't match his productivity but is likely to lead to an elevated price.
Basically they're in the unenviable position of having to pay out the nose to keep him because they gave up Wallace for him, or brace themselves for more wrath from fans regardless of what kind of deal Holliday might sign elsewhere.

One thing LaRussa better not do is take away at bats from Ludwick (The Ankiel factor). Holliday, Rasmus and Ludwick should be our EVERYDAY outfield

Man, it would be nice to have Ankiel in the 5 spot of our rotation now... it would kill 2 birds with 1 stone

So you like the deal, Pebbles?
