You can open a free account at somewhere like www.photobucket.com and upload pics to that site. If you get the app on your phone, you can send pics directly to your account. Then go to photobucket.com and there are a couple links provided for the pictures. One is a direct img link that can just be copied and pasted or you can copy the link without any embedded codes and do an [img] link [ /img] and it should uploadjdk82 wrote:I do have a crappy pic...yet not smart enough to postAWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:Pics!jdk82 wrote:I put some baby back ribs on the my Weber charcoal along with some apple chunks. A friend does the crockpot for the slow cook and finishes the meat on the grill. My smoker is in storage, so I may have to resort to this. a problem with getting the smoke, the grill is gas.
I'm not completely opposed to the crockpot, but the meat has to be cut into shapes that will fit in there.

Grab some liquid smoke.Freed Roger wrote:A friend does the crockpot for the slow cook and finishes the meat on the grill. My smoker is in storage, so I may have to resort to this. To make it even less smoky, the grill is gas. I'm not completely opposed to the crockpot, but the meat has to be cut into shapes that will fit in there.

As long as it tastes good, no big deal.Freed Roger wrote:A friend does the crockpot for the slow cook and finishes the meat on the grill. My smoker is in storage, so I may have to resort to this. a problem with getting the smoke, the grill is gas.

Don't think you're going to get much smoke flavor doing it this method even if you had a charcoal grill though as the smoke flavor gets in at the beginning.

Never heard of the Kudu until just now. Looks pretty versatile with the ability to cook on 3 or 4 different platforms at different temps. Open air grills are an acquired taste though.
I have a smoke hollow gas/charcoal grill which got used a ton from about 2012 til 2015-2016. Now it's basically a gas burner to fry fish and gas grill to cook chicken. It's also rusted and the screws continually loosen and require a good tightening. I had to repaint it with some rustoleum high heat a couple years ago and it desperately needs another coat right now.
This is pretty close to the model I have.

Not a very good smoker as it has way, way, way too many leaks. Smoke pours out of the firebox top and the charcoal grill vent as well as where the lid meets the grill. But, it was my first real smoker and I, successfully, used the hell out of it.
Then, for thanksgiving 2015, I got a weber smokey mountain to smoke a turkey. Was between a WSM and a green egg or other ceramic grill. Had I not had the smoke hollow gas grill option and/or had the green egg not cost so damn much, I'd have probably gone that route for its versatility and performance. Also factoring into it was the fact that it was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and I didn't have a stand. Buying a ceramic grill would have required buying a stand which I'd have preferred to build myself. And, those heat plates are expensive too. So, it was going to be about $1k+ just for a green egg.
Weber's customer service and overall qualityof their brand, coupled with the lower price point won out and I bought the middle sized WSM. It's been awesome as a smoker, and I've even used it as a grill by removing the middle stack a couple times. Definitely happy with it so far and no regrets. Made a mod to the WSM by adding a gasket to the firebox opening, but other than that, nothing. It's been awesome.
