A lot of those are common idioms. You hear them everyday. I don't have a problem with them.
Its the 'paradigm shifts', 'collaboration opportunities', 'actualization', etc BS that you know came out of the last high priced consultant management met with that I can do without.

if it's NOT a "normal" word/phrase/saying that you'd use outside of work/hanging out with your friends, it shouldn't be used at work.
if it IS a "normal" word/phrase/saying that you'd use outside of work/hanging out with your friends, i'd probably hate you.

I'll cop to using six of those, and really only feel guilty about one or two. I'd want to shave my nuts with a cheese grater if I said the other 19, though.

Wait a minute, people don't like to talk about elephants in the room? I always imagine the mammoth pile of [expletive] in the middle of the room that the elephant deposited there for our perusal. The pile is too big to circumvent in any fashion, so you have to deal with it. It is a glorious thought.
