When I went to retrieve my boarding pass this morning (about 22 hours before my flight), I was in B13. I know A1-15 goes to Business Select, but I have a hard time believing nearly 60 other people got the early bird too. Basically I paid $30 round trip, and the only real benefit is an early check in.
I fly regularly on Southwest, and I usually check in exactly 24 hours before a flight. I rarely get in the A's...and usually it's mid/late B's...so it doesn't surprise me that you have B13. The bright side is you should be able to get your pick of aisle or window.
I thought by paying for early bird, I would've got a better assignment than B13. I don't think I'll buy it again. But you are right that I should get aisle or window, which is what I most care about.
By virtue of my ability to deal with various medical and other emergencies I ought to get a decent seat for no extra. I won’t charge you to Heimlich or crich you, nor did I charge to deal with the smoldering electrical issue that one time. I just ask for a decent seat.

I would think so too...but if not doing it lands you in the later B's, sounds like you made a good call.
I fly so much, I've started tracking the probability of getting an aisle or window seat given the ticket position. Usually you can snag one even into the B40's...and I've snagged one or two even as a C...just depends.
United shares dropped 10.6% after yesterday's Q4 earnings call, approximately $2.5 billion.
Overall, after United's earnings call, shares across all of the top 6 US airlines dropped approximately $8.5 billion. That drop in revenue basically negates the airlines' earnings from January and brings them all back to December 2017 valuations.
United had been considering replacing quarterly bonuses for employees with a lottery style drawing for cash and prizes. They are "hitting the pause button" for now after realizing many employees may not be so happy about getting nothing.

A dog died on a flight from Houston to NYC because the flight attendant forced the passenger to stow her dog in an overhead bin rather than beneath the seat in front of her. The dog was traveling in a TSA-compliant kennel.
