Two World Series, 3 MVP's, 9 all-star games, 6 Silver Sluggers, 2 Gold Gloves, 2 HR titles, 2 batting titles. They can retire his number tomorrow for all I care. He was one of the best we've ever had or ever will have.

I have to admit, I kinda want to see Pujols have a steep decline with the Angles. Not because I dislike Pujols, but I want the card's decision to be validated.
I know, it's stupid.

We retired #24 for a man that won us a championship and then ditched us a little bit down the road. Not that I agree with it, but our rule seems to be if you go into the HoF as a Cardinal, we'll retire your number. Until that happens, Nick Punto can wear it for all I care.

No doubt, but as long as he's playing ball and not in St. Louis, it's just any other number. We can get all wishy washy and lament on his career when they're hanging his plaque in Cooperstown.

I'm happy for him on some level, and I'll probably go out of my way to watch Angels games if I can. My bet is he still goes in the HoF as a Card, mostly because I don't expect he'll be in LA the full ten years. Another Cardinal in the HoF is a good thing.
I can't believe they gave him that much, and I'm almost glad it was an obscene enough amount that I don't remotely blame the FO for not matching it.
No way should the Cards retire the number or build a statue, though. With the caveat that if he finds his way back here, i'd be inclined to reverse that. I was really hoping to see him and Stan both out in front of the stadium some day, so I am sad about that and all the AB's I'll miss.
I wonder if anyone's minding that statue out at his restaurant.

Not having a statue outside Busch Stadium is Albert's loss.
