Her son gets deployed next week. So if she's up in Alaska and spending time with him, that means she'll have plenty of time to actually do an interview -- after he leaves -- for a magazine that doesn't fall under the "celebrity journalism" banner. Right?
Remember, she hasn't actually given an interview. The campaign put her in seclusion during the week. If Obama decided to shut the media out because he wanted to spend his time on the trail kicking it with his daughters instead of answering the same questions over and over -- would that be OK?

Except that it's not the same thing.
It's sort of like comparing apples and plutonium.

when it comes to politics, i believe the exact opposite of everything jimedmondsfan ever posts. but your response isn't very informative - and unless you have more to add, i'll have to agree with her for the first time ever....

I don't want to speak for GatewaySnayke, but I think the point is that Obama had been answering questions for about 15 months before he decided to "seclude" himself. Palin hasn't answer a single question.docellis wrote:GatewaySnayke wrote:Except that it's not the same thing.

You DO understand that the media's job is to report the news, not help Obama campaign? Although you would be hard pressed to find an actual journalist who knows that. CNN and MSNBC are notoriously left wing biased. Making the anchor job a "celebrity" job ruined news coverage in this country.Popeye_Card wrote:I can't say that I agree with you. If they want to attack her on something, make it a policy issue. Like when she slashed funding for special needs education as governor, before she had her own special needs child.
That isn't to say I don't think she's an odd pick to be the VP, but they need to keep the news about McCain and Obama. That's who the race is between. The media certainly doesn't help the Obama campaign by focusing too much on Palin, because let's face it, people are going to a bit wary when it comes to constant attacks on a woman.

JEF was trying to say that Barack Obama and Sarah Palin did the same thing by shutting the media out on vacation. Except that Barack Obama had met with the media, spent more than half of the year on the campaign trail and done about 25 debates before he went to Hawaii.

I'll start by saying I really dislike politics, but are you concerned that you aren't going to hear enough of Palin before this is all said and done?GatewaySnayke wrote:JEF was trying to say that Barack Obama and Sarah Palin did the same thing by shutting the media out on vacation. Yes, I DO understand that. And yes I DO understand that the media leans left, or at least gives the appearance that they do.jimedmondsfan wrote:You DO understand that the media's job is to report the news, not help Obama campaign? But if they're not reporting the news, and they're only reporting on rumors and hearsay in an effort to "help" the left, then they are doing more harm than good.
And I will have to take back my deepest imbedded quote here. That's what I heard reported on CNN, and apparently it is not factual. My point was that if they want to make investigations into Palin's past, at least do it with policy issues that you can back up with verifyable facts. Not what a waitress supposedly says.
