Right. You obviously can't look at 2011 and say this is what will happen in 2012. That's not what I was trying to do. Just looking at if that was the schedule in 2011, who would have been favored/dogs/etc just for fun and to kind of get a feel for it.

Obviously Mizzou will be better next year and other teams will be different.

Mizzou accepts a bid to the Independence Bowl, will play North Carolina on Dec. 26th. Not surprised Big 12 didn't go to bat for us, but it still sucks.

Looks like Mizzou is going to the Independence Bowl, completely out of the seven allotted Big XII bowls. It seems like the Big XII dinged the Tigers on the surface, but apparently Associate A.D. Mark Alnutt says the Big XII helped- not hurt- Mizzou's bowl efforts. Also, this was interesting:
@Dave Matter
Alnutt: Missouri had other options at one point but Independence Bowl was "most viable option"
I wonder what that was and if it was one of the Big XII bowls, or if it was a different safety net bowl.

There's no official announcement yet on who they'll play but it's looking a lot like it'll be North Carolina. The announcement will come at 7:30 CST.

@Dave Matter
#Mizzou could have pursued Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco but chose Independence Bowl b/c of proximity for fans
@Dave Matter
Compass Bowl & TicketCity were going to be options for Mizzou until outcomes Saturday eliminated those possibilities
I don't even know what a Compass Bowl and a TicketCity Bowl are.

There's a Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl? I guess those are the kinds of choices that a 7-5 team faces.

Where can I buy a Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl? It sounds delicious.

Mizzou looked at New Year's Eve in San Francisco and the day after Christmas in Shreveport, and decided the latter would be easier to get to and drive greater attendance. Just say it's so they can get visibility/recruiting inroads in SEC country, because otherwise I have to assume that everyone in that athletic department is a crazy person.

TicketCity Bowl would've been against Penn State.

That's the most ridiculously named bowl around, but I feel guilty making fun of it because it probably has something to do with fighting hunger.

Then again, I guess it could just mean that Kraft helps fat suburban morons fight hunger with their products, and in that case, I'm all for making fun of it.

Anyway, it's officially vs. UNC.

Yeah, if I had the money to go to bowls, I'd be 100 times more likely to go to one in San Francisco, or just about any other city, than Shreveport.

Alabama finished .0086 points ahead of OK State. Tim McKernan made the point that if mizzou beat asu, it might be the cowboys playing for the national championship.
