Regarding the rest of the game: Holy crap, was that crowd in favor of L'ville or what. I loved that at my bar, it was hard to hear the commentators often, simply because the crowd (at the arena) was so loud for them. I am biased in that I unnaturally hate Duke, but that injury and the team's emotional reaction turned the entire audience in their favor. I don't know if it will carry over to the last two games, but I would have bet a hundred bucks to win five that they'd win that game.
As far as the wuss factor, since girls are tougher than boys, a look into the stands shows quite a few fans turning and shielding their eyes, too. I think Joe is right - the sound of the break, the view of the bone coming out of the leg, Ware's scream - all very startling when one is not expecting any of it.
Yes, people break bones everyday, but it's not everyday one has a bone jutting out of their leg which is suddenly at a 90 degree angle, and never as an injury on a basketball court.
