Regarding the rest of the game: Holy crap, was that crowd in favor of L'ville or what. I loved that at my bar, it was hard to hear the commentators often, simply because the crowd (at the arena) was so loud for them. I am biased in that I unnaturally hate Duke, but that injury and the team's emotional reaction turned the entire audience in their favor. I don't know if it will carry over to the last two games, but I would have bet a hundred bucks to win five that they'd win that game.
The game was in Indianapolis, about an hour from Louisville. I'm sure the stadium was very red.
As far as the wuss factor, since girls are tougher than boys, a look into the stands shows quite a few fans turning and shielding their eyes, too. I think Joe is right - the sound of the break, the view of the bone coming out of the leg, Ware's scream - all very startling when one is not expecting any of it.
Yes, people break bones everyday, but it's not everyday one has a bone jutting out of their leg which is suddenly at a 90 degree angle, and never as an injury on a basketball court.

How does the ware injury compare to prothro or theisman? Those are about as gruesome as I've seen

It was a lot like Prothro, even happened in the same way--jumping up in the air, landing, leg violently shattering on landing.
Read a while back that Prothro is a party to the Ed O'Bannon lawsuit. Good for him.

Now it sounds like Louisville is going to wear special warm-ups, in honor of Kevin Ware.
I find this whole thing incredibly odd. The injury wasn't remotely life-threatening. Not even career-threatening, apparently. Losing Ware doesn't impact Louisville's chances of winning the championship, hardly at all. I'm glad he's doing fine, but I'm a bit confused about all of the fuss.

I'm not. That was a horrible thing to have to go through despite not killing him. And, I'm sure all the players and coaches want to do
something for him. Since when does a player have to go through something 'life-threatening' in order to get a nod from his teammates anyway? It's an outfit. During warmup. Not exactly like they're re-naming the KFC Taco Bell Pizza Hut YUM! Center after him. (Though they should. That name is atrocious.)
