In the grand scope of the Cosmos it's a tiny deal. In the world of competitive sport, it's either an attempt at cheating or a big dumb glaring screwup. Either way, he [expletive] up and he's going to get penalized.

Former Steeler punter and co-host of Starkey, Miller and Mueller on 93-7 The Fan, Josh Miller, spoke to NewsRadio 1020 KDKA and said he thinks Tomlin knew what he was doing.
“Nothing he does isn’t thought out or planned, he knew what he was doing,” Miller said. “So yes, I think it was intentional.”
I still think it's very debatable. But yes, let's disregard intent. It isn't some giant black mark disgrace on the game like some are making it out to be. Talk of a suspension and draft pick revocation are ludicrous.
If this was literally anybody but the head coach we probably wouldn't be hearing a peep.
It's also pretty apparent to me that Jones wasn't going to score anyways. Also only so relevant, but just throwing it out there.

For all the perceived problems in the NFL - still a TV ratings juggernaut.
Even this Thursday night game - featuring teams with the lowest combined winning percentage in TNF history and broadcast on a network that not all homes have is expected to draw a lot of viewers.
When it's quantifiably the worst matchup in the history of "Thursday Night Football." What will people do?
JOHN OURAND: People still watch.
PESCA: John Ourand covers media for Sports Business Journal.
OURAND: I can pretty much guarantee you that this is going to get over six million viewers, 'cause all of these games get over six million viewers. And if it's close - if it's a close game, even with bad teams, it could be over seven million viewers.
PESCA: Those six or seven million will double, maybe even triple, tomorrow night's nationally televised Miami Heat game. Or consider that the Major League Baseball playoffs averaged 6.3 million viewers a game. But Jags Texans could beat that - on the NFL Network, a cable outlet not available in tens of millions of homes.

Fantasy football is probably responsible for driving a lot of the viewership numbers. People want to see their fantasy QBs, RBs and WRs make plays.

Sure looked intentional to me. He was watching the play right on the jumbotron.
Somebody determined it was intentional. He got hit with a $100k fine.
