Yeah. Bush probably doesn't care as much for his yet Obama embraces his and thinks it will be great for this nation. You're right.Jocephus wrote:i see a differenceBW23 wrote:He's the one that wants to embrace it. He's the one that said it would be good for the U.S. to have someone with that name as president. But if he feels that way, then what's the harm in referring to him in that fashion. I don't see it as any different than referring to the current president as Dubya.docellis wrote:BW23 wrote:I don't understand why it's intended to be inflammatory. Is that not his name? i guess it is the context...are you seriously saying that it wasn't intended to incite?

Re: Obama/Biden vs. McCain/Palin: The Thread
Very not up on the news. I don't have a problem with him taking a vacation, but I thought it wasn't the wisest of things to do now. I actually despise so much about politics. I looked at him going soon as a good thing. Less political news. But in no way did I ask because I didn't think he should take one. He deserves one more than most of us.pop_haines wrote:Very coy or very not up on the news. Ok, I'll cut someBW23 wrote:Please what? I tried to skim through today's postings...some of which blasted Palin for being in "seclusion" for a week. I saw something about the esteemed colleague from the left going to Hawaii with his family. I assumed this hadn't happened yet and was looking forward to when it might be.pop_haines wrote:Please.BW23 wrote:When is Barack Hussein Obama going on vacation?
If it's happened, I apologize. I tried to read through those quickly. If it hasn't happened yet, I was curious as to when it would be.
I'm not sure what the problem is.
slack for you.
All of us get vacations (a liberal gift) and he took his.
Weeks ago. More power to him. Heck, Dubya is the all
time champ for vacations, so Obama should get some
slack, yes?
Never.
Cokie Roberts, naturally, condemned him for going to
HI rather than SC. Cokie is, of course, an idiot. The
double standard by the media is beyond palpable.
Sarah's seclusion is becuse she was not properly vetted
and her views are extreme. She is cramming like mad
for her debate w/ Biden. Not a vacation.
And I'll say it again: SP is very dangerous to the Dems.
Don't play cute, Obama.
I've been following politics since 1968 and I'm no fool,
although I play one on this board. The fate of the nation
hangs in the balance.
McCan/Palin is Bush x 10.
The rest of your post I don't necessarily agree with, but we both know that.
And thanks for actually responding to what I've been wondering.

I wasn't made aware of his quote about it until today. If he thinks it's a great thing, aren't I just helping him?Socnorb11 wrote:BW23 wrote:I don't understand why it's intended to be inflammatory. It's been his name since Page 1 of this thread, but you just seem to be using it NOW to incite. Nobody here believes you're not trying to stir up trouble with it.

Why should we care? 90% of the flaming in this thread has come from interpreting a post in such a way that the poster feels words are being put in his mouth. If everybody weren't so thin-skinned, this place wouldn't be turning into Cards Talk.Socnorb11 wrote:BW23 wrote:I don't understand why it's intended to be inflammatory. Is that not his name? barack shouldn't have to hide that his middle name is hussein, but the fact is that name "scares" people in this country..."is he like us or is he one of them?"..."them" being terrorists that bush devoted his terms to...and the republicans for awhile were unabashed to use it, now, people who are in the political spotlight wont say it, but those who are not (i.e. you) have no problem saying it in an inciteful way...which is why i think you said it

I wasn't aware until today what Obama himself said about this. As I said, I think it's stupid, but if he feels that way, why not use it?Jocephus wrote:no. thats not it. dubya's a nickname...and its not really even a nickname...its spelling out his middle initial...BW23 wrote:Yeah. This thread is certainly bringing back memories. I haven't seen a flame war this bad since GoCubsGo called DK a pothead in 2003.Jocephus wrote:i really dont think this place is turning into cards talkobucard wrote:Why should we care? 90% of the flaming in this thread has come from interpreting a post in such a way that the poster feels words are being put in his mouth. You and others have gone out of your way to distort the truth or incite or stir up trouble in regards to the right. All I'm doing is what Barry wants. No distortion at all.
