To me, it makes sense for the best player to be at the highest level between those two. At least Craig has seen AA pitching.

Yes, and I can't find another player in history with a similar predicament. At the time of the Weaver trade, I had trouble finding players who spent any significant (i.e., non-rehab) part of their age-24 season at A-ball. The obvious comp here is somebody like Stavinoha or Evans, and you can see how that's gone.

It's kinda weird the Padres weren't willing to bump both up a level at mid-season.

I wouldnt say 24 at bats should make the difference on who goes where, Freese has 130 total more at bats than Craig does.

I'd guess Craig is moving off 3b, and that kinda sucks.

I really won't mind Weaver for one year. Just.. nothing over 10.5 million.

That would be a bad move on the Cardinals part, its not like they are over loaded on 3B talent.
