Had an opportunity to get a great deal on one of these this week, from an old friend who was looking to pare down his motorcycle collection (20+). He owned it for 33 years, and had bought it off of his dad's buddy who bought it new in 1970.
This is the first vintage bike I have owned, and it is certainly a different experience. No turn signals. The shifting on it is backwards (1 up, 4 down vs. the usual 1 down, 4/5 up). It is a fantastic cruiser though - just silky smooth at that 40-60 mph range.

Thanks guys. That's not quite the actual bike - I grabbed the photo from a BringATrailer auction - but it's pretty close to the same specs and condition.
I think I'm going to drop the double seat and install a solo seat, like the bike below. I'm trying to track down an original set of Wixom saddlebags for it too, but they are tough to find.

I've really been kicking around getting a used Porsche Cayman. Thought about a 911 and while that's certainly the Porsche to get but I've always really like the Cayman. Particularly that second generation. So while I was surfing the car sites this beautiful Guards Red Boxster pops up and my wife goes "oh how about that?"
I'm sure it's a fun drive but I'm not sure my pride will let me get a Boxster. lol

I empathize. If you get a Porsche, you have to go 911 right? The 911 market just completely sucks though - there is no getting around shelling out a ton of money for a decent one.
The Caymans still look really good, and the performance is incredible. Easier to find at a decent value, and you can even find a manual transmission for an acceptable price. A guy I play hockey with has had one for 10+ years, and he still loves it. Boxsters? Just a Cayman without a roof. I test drove a Boxster GTS (with a manual) when we bought the F-Type. It was an incredible car, and that gear box was just silky smooth. But in the end we couldn't pass up the raw energy (and sound) of the Jag.
I still want to buy a 911 coupe or targa in the next ~5 years, but if my wife held me to getting a convertible I would opt for the Boxster over the 911 Cabriolet. However if I just can't stomach the 911 market by that time, I could easily talk myself into getting a Cayman.
And truth be told, I still can't decide which direction I want to go with a 911. I'd love to get a first gen 901, but then I would probably rarely drive it. The 80's kid in me still gets irrationally excited when I see a 964 Turbo with a whale tail, but same deal there - I would be tentative to drive it much. I could probably get a good 997 at a decent price, which would be my next choice, and I probably wouldn't be as hesitant to daily it.

Buddy of mine got a 997 in the spring. The car was immaculately cared for and he still got it for what I think is one heck of a good price. What I'm finding with the Porsche world is there are people who really go over the top with maintenance which makes for some amazing deals on the used market.
I will say this Boxster we stumbled on is quite the looker. From the listing since that pic they've moved the front Europlate to the window and added white stripes on the hood, which I'm not a huge fan of, but the rest of the car is nice. It is a PDK car which I have no experience with.

Being someone who looks at Bring A Trailer frequently I’m astounded by the price Porsches bring. Even used (albeit slightly for the most part) they will consistently sell above the original sales price (and in most cases WELL above the original sticker). The GT3’s basically increase by 50k + the moment you buy it (IF you got it for sticker price from the dealer, which I honestly have no idea if that’s common or not).
It’s insane really. And look, I understand they are fantastic cars (although I’ve never driven one), I might be more apt to buy a Merc AMG or something along those lines since they just don’t seem to hold value when used as well as the Porsches do. Granted if you’re only looking to own the Porsche for a few years, only drive it occasionally you likely wouldn’t even lose a cent on it. Granted, it’s all a pipe dream for me.
