If we lose by 15 I think I'll vomit.

Danielson knows Alabama's 3rd stringers on special teams but can't reliably identify Mizzou's starters.

Well, if you're like me, you take solace in the fact that they will be embarrassed by the final score. It's not much solace.longhornbaseball wrote:If we lose by 15 I think I'll vomit.

DingleGary is the worst announcer around and it's not even close. And that's saying something, because Matt Millen is an announcer.
-That was both better and worse than I expected. Better in that they made it to the 4th quarter down by 8 (or very late 3rd) with momentum. Pretty gutsy to hang around as long as they did. But worse because it got so awful in the 4th.
-It's not the reason they lost, but that game could have been so much closer if they'd gotten just a few breaks on the turnovers and special teams. Murphy was one dude's arm away from a TD return. The botched punt that didn't end up a block or recovery. Sims' early fumbles. If Mizzou gets ANYTHING out of any of those, that's a much better ballgame.
-Can't say I'm all that disappointed, though. That was the #1 team in the country and it shows. Their talent level is obscene. It's crazy that they lost to Ole Miss and crazy that Arkansas gave them trouble.
-There's still a bowl game so it's a little early to be looking at 2015. But Mizzou returns 7 starters on offense (6 if you count Murphy as the starter over Hansbrough), and 8 on defense from a team that went 10-2 and played for the SEC title. Their starting O-line will have something like 90 or 100 career starts entering 2015. All of that bodes really well. Just figure out something at WR because it's a huge weakness as of right now.

I'm not the biggest Mauk fan, but his arm is just, well, it's understandable why people are/were high on him. Just incredible. He also is too short and inconsistent.

I agree with all of this.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:I'm not the biggest Mauk fan, but his arm is just, well, it's understandable why people are/were high on him. Just incredible. He also is too short and inconsistent.
-He made himself look bad throughout the year with poor reads, horrible short throws, and occasionally questionable pocket presence. I say occasional because...
-the line didn't help him any during that really ugly stretch earlier in the year. That should correct itself next year, and even did a little this year towards the end. Sure enough, he was much better in games 8 through 12 (and even today) than he was earlier on. His WRs also made him look a lot worse than he was with a LOT of drops. I'd be curious to see how they ranked nationally in that stat. It seems like a lot.
-When he's good, he's exciting as hell and he throws a tremendous deep ball. He also moves well. If he'd ever tighten up his short game, he'd be an absolute monster. He was only a sophomore this year so I have high hopes that it'll happen in the next two years. And frankly, if it doesn't, Pinkel and his staff are about as good at judging QB talent as anyone in the country. If Mauk doesn't progress, Printz or eventually Lock should pass him up.

Count me in the crowd that says wow. what a year. Some great games, SECe champs two yrs in a row, great defense, and we were only supposed to be fourth best in the east - not bad for a rebuilding year. I'll take it. Beats the 8 wins I was hoping for. Now win a fairly decent bowl game, pick up the 5star from E. St. Lou and a few other stud recruits. Maybe a year of growth on that Mauk kid and take the east again next year.
Congrats to the Tigers for doing all the things no one thought they would do.
