I'll be getting Battlefield 1. That looks amazing. I want to hit someone with an E-tool.

i started witcher 2 last night...only maybe an hour in but its fun so far with a great look, etc...but its already got me excited for witcher 3, hopefully i can find a deal on it later down the road.Michael wrote:I'm really interested in FO4, but I'm still working through Witcher 3. W3 is a great game, but it's the first time I've ever felt a game is too damn big for it's own good. The whole thing is overwhelming at times. I consider open world games to be a favorite of mine, but Witcher 3 is like drinking out of a fire hose. There a huge parts of the game I made the conscious decision to ignore. That said, it's a great game and recommend it unless you are hardcore OCD.

Re: The Video Game Thread
I'm playing Fallout 4 right now. It's a very good game, but in my opinion Witcher 3 is the new standard for open world RPG games. The depth of story telling, locations and quest variety is leaps and bounds better than FO4.
The only things I like more about Fallout 4 is the combat and leveling system. I'm playing a stealth combat type of character which is fun. W3 is more hack and slash which isn't as fun for me.
Bethesda is really going to have to step up their game with the next Elder Scrolls.

im probably the opposite of you. fo4 is more my "king" title but witcher (well 2) is great and i expect 3, from everything i've heard, to be way better than 2 and i hope/plan to play it sometime.Michael wrote:I'm playing Fallout 4 right now. i know a lot of people complained that they simplified things too much in FO4 but i don't think its bad or anything. admittedly i started with FO3, which itself was a departure from the previous fallout titles format/style but no complaints from me.
i also really want to get doom.

Re: The Video Game Thread
I didn't play W2, but I've read W3 is a couple of tiers above it.
I think Fallout 4 is a logical extension Skyrim, which I loved. But after playing W3 the flaws in Bethesda RPG games feel much more magnified. They have mostly boring stories unless you read a ton and repetitive fetch/clear out a room quests. W3 quests are so much better. It's something you really have to experience.
That said, I really like FO4 and W3 isn't perfect. The combat is basically watered down Arkham Asylum with swords and some magic.
