A mate of mine did a Let's Play of it, and is moderate-to-extremely obsessed with it and all things "Aliens". But the videos were all an hour apiece and he barely speaks during them, so I just pretended I'd watched them when he asked. Game looks great though.Jocephus wrote:anyone ever play "alien: isolation"? it was 20$ on amazon so i picked it up with some birthday money. it arrived last night. still need to finish doom before i start this but am looking forward to it.

Got the Nintendo NES Classic today. GameStop I went to ended up having ten of them, I was third in line. Waited about two hours, so not terrible IMO. Unfortunately no extra controllers were on sale at the store I went to, so just 1-player games for now.
Sounds like there were some problems for people buying or looking to buy at Walmart and Target near me.

Re: The Video Game Thread
I would love to get one, but with the outage right now I'm working 12-14 hour days six days a week - my day off is Wednesday. I won't get home until 6:30-7pm tonight, so even the random obscure store that wasn't sold out three hours ago will be sold out by then. My only shot at getting one would be when they finally go on sale at Amazon around 5pm CST tonight - although they will be sold out within a few minutes I'm sure.

It looks pretty fun. I'd love to play Excitebike and Kid Icarus again. I'll be over at your place around 6pm with a 5 pack of Zima. Yes there used to be 6. Don't ask.MrCrowesGarden wrote:Got the Nintendo NES Classic today. GameStop I went to ended up having ten of them, I was third in line. Waited about two hours, so not terrible IMO. You could always get a Raspberry Pi, the Retropie OS for it, a couple of controllers, and play thousands of games.

On my laptop at home I have emulators for NES, SNES, and Genesis, as well as about 10,000 games between the three consoles. While fun (I do enjoy playing them while traveling for work), it just doesn't scratch the same itch. Plus this way is actually completely legal and purchased directly from Nintendo...Famous Mortimer wrote:You could always get a Raspberry Pi, the Retropie OS for it, a couple of controllers, and play thousands of games.

True enough, I just like the Retropie look, and having the actual controllers helps too. Legality in this instance doesn't bother me too much (I've bought countless computer games in my life, so I feel like I've contributed plenty to the industry, and it's not like anyone's rushing to re-release "Mercenary" for the Commdore 64).Swirls wrote:On my laptop at home I have emulators for NES, SNES, and Genesis, as well as about 10,000 games between the three consoles. My 10 yo wants one for Christmas. I'm not looking forward to waiting in a line. I wouldn't bother at all, but he doesn't really want anything else at all. I actually want it more than he does, so I'll have to find one.MrCrowesGarden wrote:Got the Nintendo NES Classic today. GameStop I went to ended up having ten of them, I was third in line.
