anyone know if they will be offering any of the EI games in HD?

Which reads somewhat ambiguous. I would guess that if the games are televised HD then they are televised HD on EI. Will Fox Sports games be HD this year?

I just talked to an account representative that confirmed this. They will have channels 90-99 (whatever, ten channels) setup for HD games, and if FSMW is showing the Birds in HD, so will EI. I know that NBC is showing the games in HD this year, but I am unclear on whether or not EI will carry those games. They didn't carry the WB games last year. So, as usual you can't really get a clear answer from these people, the guy on the phone said that he was just reading off a sheet in the binder they give him.

Are those the archived ones? Basically the games with the commercials removed?

Yep, DSL sucks.

At least in my experience... I can download probably 30 times faster with Cable internet (and that's not an exaggeration). When I had Qwest DSL, they capped me at 25.6 KB/s.

Introducing MLB.TV PREMIUM. I'm telling you Jim, after that Baseball Musings piece, and this $5 per month/$30 per year hike, this is making all the sense in the world to me. A bit of a gamble, but lately it's looking more and more sound.

It all really sucks, but you can put me in the camp that thinks this is none of the Gov't's business. Personally I wish people were a little more upset about the ridiculous blackout restrictions.

I am reasonably sure that this just happened, unless I have completely missed something. A google search only brings up the MLB site. I haven't heard about it anywhere else. By the way, you'll have to purchase the premium package if you want that new picture quality, etc. Props to greenback for calling this a week ago.

excellent. That makes me feel much better about paying that kind of money over getting MLB.TV. Watching Cards games in HD on my plasma>watching choppy video on my laptop.

I was planning on getting a dish when I moved this summer but hadn't decided which service yet (had Dish Network way back when in college for 4 years), so it looks like I'll be going the Direct TV route.

Cable television is a HUGE business that affects most every American. They have had free reign long enough. They need more regulation. Just imagine if you could chose channels ala carte and only pay for what you want. I have “read-up” on this issue a lot and I don’t want to turn this thread into my personal rant…but it is time for Washington to do something about Cable TV companies.

I still don't see what that has to do with this issue. This is a premium service. It's not something available to your average subscriber of any cable or dish package.

I have DirecTV specifically for two channels for my kids. Dish doesn't have them. Neither does my cable provider. Should I contact Mr. Kerry and see if he can get these added to my local cable provider?

I think MLB should be able to provide this service to whichever company they want. It's bad business, but it's their business.
