I'll wait about 20-25 games before I get too worried. I remember 04 when our pitching sucked for like 2 weeks and Pujols was teh $100 millionz bust!!!11 ... or something.
Kip Wells looked pretty good. 4 walks a little bit of a concern, but only two allowed runs in 6 innings (3.00 ERA). His stuff looked good... but I do think he was nibbling a little too much.
Chris Duncan had a couple of hits. More importantly, he had a very good at-bat against a lefty. Feel behind 0-2, took three balls, fouled on off and then ripped a line drive into center field. At-bats like that will turn him from a platoon player into an everyday player.
Wells has had a problem with walks throughout his career. Aside from the usual concern about health, that's probably his biggest question for this season.
The Cardinals knew Spiezio was hurt and still chose Schumaker over Rodriguez. The Cardinals' nonchalance over their offense is discouraging.

Good to hear about Duncan. The way I look at it, the more Duncan plays, the better, because that means less Taguchi and Preston. No matter how bad his D is, and no matter how bad he is against lefties, he has to be better than So and Preston. I hope TLR sticks with him tomorrow as well.

I know the Mets have won these past two games, so in retrospect it really doesn't matter... but I don't get the whole LoDuca bunting Reyes over to 2B thing either. I believe he did that on Sunday night too...
Reyes is freaking fast. He can basically score on anything hit to the OF when he's on 2B. What's the point of giving us an out just to move him to 3B?

How so? After a game there's going to be some knee jerk reactions but it's clear this team isn't playing well and there are some legitimate holes. No one is seriously claiming our season is over.
Because the knee jerk reactions are coming after we've played a grand total of two games.
Duncan was impressive to me... had the outfield assist, and the hustle on the single to first was great showing that he has passion.. of course if he jams a shoulder or breaks a finger we are cussing up a storm knowing we are stuck with So as our regular left fielder then...
But Duncan showed me tonight, and I am sure many others that he should be the regular left fielder no matter what. Unless he is hitting .220 come June Id let him play every day...save for when you are going against Randy Johnson or a really really nasty lefty...
but to me when you possess the natural power he seems to have you would want him to be in the lineup as often as possible since we dont have the most potent lineup in baseball

I think we've all been pretty reasonable so far. As for the CT comparison, I'd invite you to go spend a day posting on CT and then rethink your position.
