I was at the game with a birdseye view, and that looked like a set play between the Looper/Molina/Pujols. Is that what the announcers were saying? I think the pitch was intentionally off the plate by a wide margin, Albert was breaking as the pitch was delivered.
If you ask me, the guy that messed up was the 1B coach. As soon as he sees AP breaking he's got to be yelling BACK, especially since they know the history.
Any interest in moving Jimmy and Duncan around in the lineup? Doesn't have to happen today, but should it happen if Duncan and Jimmy continue to hit like they are?
Duncan between Pujols and Rolen looks like a stronger middle lineup. Plus, Edmonds might see some better pitches to hit when hitting in front of Pujols.

I think it's fine, but when you say Jimmy continue to hit like he has to you mean that in a good way or a bad way? Edmonds absolutely smoked the ball yesterday. I have two !'s in my scorecard, which I use to denote an exceptional play, one is a 9! and the other is a 4!-6-3/gdp, both on Edmonds.

I agree, he SMOKED the ball yesterday and was robbed twice. That DP that was turned on that ball the 2B was an impressive play by Weeks.

I thought I remember Edmonds saying two years ago that he HATED batting second. He feels that he can help the team more if he bats 4th or 5th. Maybe he has changed the past couple of years, but if he doesn't want to hit there or feel comfortable there, he probably won't be there. I think that might be the reason he hasn't been there yet. He is the prototypical Tony number 2 guy.

I'm not sure about batting order #, but IIRC he doesn't hit as well when he's in front of Albert vs. behind him, for whatever reasons. I think it's because he focuses on being TOO patient and just trying to get on for Albert instead of focusing on getting a good pitch and driving the ball.
I'm sure somebody will post splits now and make me look stupid for recalling this wrong.

Yeah, like yesterday. I don't see Jimmy "as much as" a power threat as he was in the past. He he likes to look for the walk, and can move the runner to third because he can still smoke it to the gaps. Plus, with AP behind him...I think he might get some better pitches to hit. I've mentioned in earlier threads during the offseason and preseason that I have a concern with Jimmy's offense this year, which could be mitigated by batting him 2nd.
As it looks today, Duncan's power would scare me more than Jimmy's.

I would be fine with it. I actually still am one of those that would like to see the major power threat hitting 4th. Edmonds/Dunc/Pujols/Rolen, something like that.
