I believe the whistle blew the play dead before he threw the ball

That makes sense. It sucks, but it makes sense. Seems a little early to blow the whistle though.

BTW West virginia will be without Pat White (thumb injury it looks like).
WVU got a cheap penalty from Pitt to change a FG into a TD.
