Heyzeus, have you guys asked around to see if this is normal?? Maybe there is something causing the little guy to wake up....either that or he's just the demon seed when it comes to sleeping.

Nobody we know has had an experience like ours. The baby books are equally vague. The solution to your baby waking up super early, when they're still tired, is either to put them to bed earlier. Or, put them to bed later. SCIENCE! And if neither work, then just stick your thumb up your ass and whistle dixie, because we don't know what the [expletive] for you to do.

I don't think anything is wrong with him. I'm told I was the same way as a baby. Part of the reason was I had tubed in my ears not long after birth, but even after those came out I'd stay up all night crying and wake up early and cry some more. Through my childhood I never became much of a sleeper. My whole life I've always been a 6 hr/night type person, and it still takes work to get me to do that.

Take this w/ a grain of salt because I don't have any children but have you checked into him possibly having a babies version of acid reflux? I've heard that can happen in babies, and obviously it would lead to sleepless nights.

Hell, I'm an adult & the [expletive] wakes me up if I don't take medicine for it.

FYI reflux is very very clear when you have the foul smelling stomach acid on your shirt. Infants want to be held with reflux and want to have pressure on their stomachs. They want to sleep face down, which is a big no no for infants who cannot roll over. Relfux sucks.
reflux did keep our little guy up a lot

hang in there zues. Our guy was going to bed at 8 and then waking up on the hour from 1-6 and up for good at 6 until about 1 year.

Nothing like what you are going through, but I am happy to say that he now sleeps 7 hours in a row.
It does get better.

Magic. The little dude slept from 7am to 7pm last night with one short wakeup. FOREVER ASLEEP. 8/15/12 NEVER FORGET.
