I also got a Samsung Galaxy player, which lets me play around with something to see if I want an Android smartphone later on. And my wife got me a NY Times cookbook, so I get the hint.

I will say, though, that my new sister-in-law got some really crappy presents for my kids. Nobody even expected a present from her, so I'm glad she got something, but sheesh . . . She got my son a hat and gloves that would fit a three year old, and he's fifteen. She got a snap purse for my daughter at a dollar store, and a zipper inside it broke off instantly. It is so cheap you can smell the sweat of third-world slave labor as soon as you open it, and it seems so carcinogen-laden that the EPA will declare it a Superfund clean-up site in June. A card would have sufficed, so I don't get it. The kids will write thank-you notes, and are usually very appreciative, but it's hard to blame them for chuckling. Last year, my sister-in-law bought my daughter an umbrella.
Was that the year of that Rihanna song? Is so, she probably just assumed all the kids wanted umbrellas.
It was the year of Rihanna's bonus track, "Gonna Send My Niece Cheaply Made Freebies I Picked Up From My Workplace" featuring Suze Orman.
Gifting out her SWAG. That's creative.

My brother-in-law is a minister in the chicago area. He was organizing some sort of mans retreat and made a video to promote it. He had one of the Chicago Bear's linebackers in the video with him standing in as kind of a mans retreat enforcer.

My brother-in-law gave me and another brother-in-law a copy of the video on DVD. We put the DVD in to watch it and there was a new segment in the video where the linebacker tells the minister that there are concerns about what psycho fans we are and wonders if there should be concern for the teams safety. Kind of cool he had time to personalize a video for us even if it is making crap of me.

Couldn't figure out what to do with xmas gift - some Bill Oreilly book about Lincoln. Even if this book wasn't written by a douche, I have read on Lincoln and am Abed-out.

Anyway, I put it thru recycling.

I wish people would stop trying to give me books. It is a waste. With only reading about 8 books a year, I typically go by what I feel like reading at the time. I'm more grateful for movie and book recommendations from people I know, then failed attempts at foisting them upon me.

I got an ipod, a baseball signed by the entire 1985 Cardinals, a poster of the Three Stooges playing golf for my bar and some socks.

WTF.

I don't care about getting anything for Christmas, it is about my kids and what I can do for those I care about, and that is it. I also don't think the whole idea behind Christmas is what you get. But then again, I am not a selfish jerk, contrary to what Mrs. Wart says.
