Rant: I've spent the overwhelming majority of my life drinking beer. I'm not used to going at a bourbon pace. I'm used to cramming barley and malt in my face consistently for 7 hours, which generally leaves you on your own two feet and mildly lucid. Bourbon is something else altogether. It's conducive to becoming an ornery cuss and you can seriously hurt yourself if you don't watch it.
Yep, to it all.

The worst is beer drinking all day at the lake or on a river or tailgating or wherever you happen to go through beer at the most rapid pace, then switching to bourbon late at night and slamming 4 bourbons like it's the same as drinking 4 beers. It is not.

I'd be suicidal too.

I did that in HS. I recall heaving up some primordial green stuff the next day.

I did that with a bottle of Jim Beam on my 21st b day after 6 beers and a random shot of Bacardi. I puked, passed out, woke up, puked and passed out and have never been sicker in my life. So stupid. Still can't stand even the smell of Jim Beam now.

That's crazy.

Hey I've been listening and experimenting a little bit, and I have to say I really don't get the ice/splash of water in bourbon. I tried some ice and I just don't understand that at all. You end up sucking like a starved little baby looking for those few last drops of watered down whiskey when it's done.

Neat (which is a word I didn't even know 3 months ago). I think that's the only acceptable way to drink decent stuff.

I feel the same way about Southern Comfort, trill. It was in HS, not 21 bday but the effect was the same. Still have to fight the gag reflex any time I get near the stuff even after all these years.
