Sometimes I think mo reads this board. Anyway, glad he's a Cardinal.

Was looking forward to finding out more about how Fowler is a significantly better offensive player than Blackmon. That ship has sailed now.

As long as it's less than 8yr/$184mil with 2 opt-outs, I think we're good.

Last year the average 3-hitter batted .277/.351/.476/.826
Matt Carpenter over the last 2 years has hit .271/.372/.505/.877

So better in getting on base and power than the average 3-hitter.

I don't think those are carpenter's numbers when he's batting 3rd, which is what he's saying.

Carp seems to have some mental thing where he only hits well in the leadoff spot. Of course he's never left in other spots long enough to see for sure.

He was also leading the league in OPS the day he strained his oblique. There still seems to be the perception that Carpenter's power is a mirage.

I like the deal. Now go get Turner and you've got a really strong lineup.

Yeah, I'll take credit....

But when it comes time to somewhat overpay or commit to a player for longer than he will be useful they won't do it. It's not like it was with Pujols when it was going to be a massive amount of money for several years after he would be productive. If Fowler will improve the team for the next two or three seasons, and he's willing to come to STL, then get him.
