According to this article, Carpenter needs 550 PAs in 2021 for the option to vest, taking the shortened 2020 into account. He's had 86 so far, so while it would appear unlikely, you never know.

Hypothetically speaking, if there isn't a 2022 season (which is a real possibility), what happens then? When baseball resumes does his vesting option kick back in?
