The word in the backrooms is that Feingold is being considered for Veep.

This is pretty awesome, right here, if true.

That would be ballsy. He's to the left of even your average Democratic voter. I'm not sure there's much to gain in terms of votes by naming him, and it could hurt if the Republicans point out his support for stuff like universal health care (period) and gay marriage.

I didn't think Edwards was ever a serious candidate. Remember, the Republicans have managed to successfully brand him as hypocritical populist who cares more about his hair than policy. Even if it's just a bunch of crap, I think it managed to stick.

It goes beyond nice, but that's not all of it.

Not only that, but when he's not running for something he suddenly drops out of sight. Not exactly a tireless defender of the working man.

It will be as close as 2000 and 2004 and the GOP has maybe the worst candidate
since Bush and they still have a reasonable shot at winning. This should be a
frackin' LANDSLIDE and yet it will be tightly contested. Omg.

I'll never understand it. I don't know whether it's because he has a funny name, the way he looks, maybe the Clintons had an effect, Jeremiah Wright, his inexperience. Whatever it is, it really worries me that 40%+ of Americans still support John McCain. Really freaking worries me.

I'll never understand it. I don't know whether it's because he has a funny name, the way he looks, maybe the Clintons had an effect, Jeremiah Wright, his inexperience. Whatever it is, it really worries me that 40%+ of Americans still support John McCain. Really freaking worries me.

Either party would get 40% of the vote, even in a landslide, so that doesn't surprise me. Heck, Mondale got 40% against Reagan. Plus, McCain is clearly the most palatable and competitive of the Republican candidates emerging from the primaries. Had Romney won, the Republicans would have no hope of winning the White House.

It's probably not going to be a landslide presidential election, although the Democrats will crush the Republicans in House and Senate races, and enjoy massive Congressional majorities. I'm thinking Obama will win, particularly if he can seem palatable and unthreatening to many independent voters.

I've been asked again and again for my response to the now infamous McCain celebrity ad. I actually have three responses. It is a complete waste of the money John McCain's contributors have donated to his campaign. It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs. And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next President of the United States.
