It's not tougher than this year at all... but this year was also as brutal a schedule as I can remember Mizzou facing.

I don't care that much about facing A&M. My only real gripe there is how stupid it is that they've had to travel to College Station three years in a row. That's absurd.

EDIT: Actually, RMN has the breakdown and as it turns out, the eight SEC teams Mizzou will face next year were (on average) better than the nine Big XII teams Mizzou faced this year.

September 8: Georgia
September 22: at South Carolina
October 6: Vanderbilt
October 13: Alabama
October 27: Kentucky
November 3: at Florida
November 10: at Tennessee
November 24: at Texas A&M

I can see Mizzou going 5-3 at best against the conference foes in 2012

My overoptimism:

September 8: Georgia - WIN
September 22: at South Carolina - WIN
October 6: Vanderbilt - WIN
October 13: Alabama - LOSS
October 27: Kentucky - WIN
November 3: at Florida - LOSS
November 10: at Tennessee - WIN
November 24: at Texas A&M - WIN

6-2, BAM

The Florida game really doesn't scare me nearly as much as that USC game. GA, under Richt in particular, is notorious for starting slow then charging late. If Mizzou can go to Columbia, SC and beat USC, I see no reason to worry about the Florida game.

Georgia, Carolina, and Florida could all go either way. I'll be happy with 2 wins out of those three. Get two out of those three and avoid letdowns against teams they should beat- Vandy, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Texas A&M- and you're looking at a 6-2 conference record. That's a very realistic and attainable goal. I think 5-3 is the more likely scenario, though.

A lot of people are assuming a loss in that Bama game, and it's a decent assumption to make, but if, and it is a BIG if, Mizzou can get through GA and USC, Mizzou has the type of offense that Alabama's D has been susceptible against. Not that there have been many losses for Bama, but they have all come against mobile QBs (Garcia, Jefferson x2, Newton) over the past 2 years.

They'll lose a couple playmakers from their stellar secondary as well as Richardson. So.... we shall see.

I'm still not able to properly calibrate the Richt factor, but Georgia will have the best roster in the SEC next year and will likely be a top 5 team coming into Columbia. Georgia also dodges LSU, Arkansas and Alabama so next year could be their year.

Mizzou also plays Arizona State at home. I've heard they have a tall quarterback.

I'd love to see Mizzou beat Bama, but our offense is pretty similar in style to Arkansas, and we've seen what the Tide's done to the Razorbacks.

I'll probably show my ignorance on Mizzou's style here as I don't get to see them as much. But, I think the major difference is Arkansas is a pass first, second and third option when the game is tied or they are trailing that mixes in runs to keep the defense honest . Even with Wilson who is somewhat mobile, they rely on protection providing time for routes to develop.

Isn't Mizzou more of a spread type offense that with a healthy squad can effectively run or pass? Add in a 3rd dimension with Franklin and it makes it tougher on Alabama. Les Miles has said, on more than one occasion, that Alabama will take away your 5 best running plays and your 5 best passing plays. So you need to find another way to attack. A running QB just might be that secret....

Edited to say: The Tide has stopped Arkansas from putting up Arkansas like numbers. But, they have scored more than they should have because Arkansas defaults to passing when behind and gets a lot of 3 and outs which makes it tough on a D. In 2010, when they were wininng, they ran (unsuccessfully, I might add) a lot of running plays and lost it in the end. (AR really should have won that game and likely would have if Knile Davis had been around at that time, but I digress)

Now I'm thinking about season tickets...I guess they knew what they were doing.
