Re: Pujols Signs With Angels
At least we know that it wasn't really "fielding a winning team" that was determinative to Pujols. It is always about the money. Just nice to have confirmation.
Nice, though, that Musial gets to retain the all time Cards HR record - 475 to AP's 445.

Everybody loves to talk about getting the most money. The pundits love to point to "no income-tax" in Florida. However, the same thinking works here. The cost of living in California is a hell of a lot higher than St. Louis, as are the income taxes, property taxes, etc.
According to one site (http://inflationdata.com/default.asp), if he were to make $20 Million/year in St. Louis, he would need to earn better than $32 Million/per to maintain the same buying power!
Albert took a pay cut!
(yes, I know this is an incredible over simplifiation, but I'm looking for things to make me feel better).

To avoid confusion, as I mentioned earlier, Albert Pujols will now and forever be referred to by me as Jose Pujols. Albert was a guy that played for the Cardinals with distinction from 2001-2011 and mysteriously disappeared. Jose Pujols is a new latin free agent that the Angels found somewhere deep in the Dominican Republic. They share no relation, I've heard.
I wonder if this Jose Pujols guy the Halos got is going to be any good?

I'm suddenly recalling much more vividly all of the times Pujols frustrated me this year with GIDPs rather than the good moments. Funny how that works.

IIRC, CA has a 10% personal income tax rate. And the state is still a fiscal disaster.MDCardsFan wrote:Everybody loves to talk about getting the most money. hitless in games 1, 2, 4, 5, and 7. 6 hits total in the series and 5 were in game 6. Many of the game 3 hits were when the game was already a blowout. They likely don't win that game without him and don't win the series without his hit in game 6, but he was no David Freese in that series. Despite all the hype about his 3 homer game, AP was certainly no Mr. October in his 3 World Series appearances with the Cardinals.AWvsCBsteeeerike3 wrote:really other than game 3 he did nothing. the double in the 9th of game 6 i guess... he was hitless in games 4 adn 5 and up to the 9th in 6 as well.OmahaCard79 wrote:Just skip game 3 and it's like Albert barely participated in the World Series. Or linger on game 5 a bit more, if that suits ya.OmahaCard79 wrote:Just skip game 3 and it's like Albert barely participated in the World Series. You'll be fine. just fast forward.cards2468 wrote:The worst part about this is I'm not going to enjoy watching my WS DVD's as much now.

So he got one coinflip right and one coinflip wrong. Impressive.
