Re: FIST JABBIN' TERRORIST VS. SENILE OLD MAN: THE THREAD

Recently, reports have been coming out about Hillary Clinton's advisers' plans to portray Obama as exotic or un-American, as well as the dissension and conflict within the Clinton campaign:

It will be interesting to watch how much McCain's advisers take from the Clinton playbook, now and in the months ahead.

It used to be that a presidential candidate announced his running mate at a carefully staged rally in a crucial swing state designed to boost buzz for the ticket and maximize media coverage.

But in a presidential cycle where so many of the conventional rules no longer appear applicable, Barack Obama's campaign said Sunday the Democratic VP choice will be revealed via e-mail and text messages to supporters.

They are for Obama. If he protects all the states Kerry won (which is looking likely, though Michigan is going to be close) that gives him 251 votes. People are already saying that Iowa is going blue, which gives Obama 258. Piecing together small states like the Dakotas could really pay off.
If he needs SD, he is in real trouble, 'cause he ain't gonna get it.

He probably won't get it and I guess the odds of him taking a lot of smaller swing states rather than Ohio or Florida are against him.

But that the Dakotas and Montana are now swing states is a damning indictment of the GOP. And forcing Maverick to play ball and spend money to defend states that Bush won so easily makes me giggle.

Montana may be a swing state, I can't be sure.

But the Dakotas are not. The reason they have ND as 'leaning Repub' is that they have 2 Democratic senators. And I live in SD, and I can tell you it is far from a swing state, as far as the presidential election goes.

We will see.

Media Matters said that FOX News will not be allowed to have any of their people serve as moderators at the debates. And just to show that there is no foul play, MSNBC and CNN won't have any of their people either.

Nevada is in play (close, with a slight McCain lead), but Colorado is leaning Democratic, New Mexico is leaning Democratic, and New Hampshire is leaning Democratic. Virginia is a possibility in the South, although leaning toward McCain in the polls right now.

But the Prairie states (the Dakotas, Nebraska, and Kansas) are all solidly Republican in presidential elections--both historically, and in this race.

I firmly believe the debates will decide this election, possibly more-so than any in the past. Thus it really doesn't matter who is leaning where right now.
